import/ type equations (latex)

It would be great to be able to either type or easily drop equations
from latex. I just found latexit which can easily create and drop
equations into other applications (keynote, powerpoint,...) but not to
inkscape.

Please check to see if this or a similar request has been
filed already.

GtkMathView is highly portable and includes an SVG backend
and might be a suitable way to implement Mathematics support
in Inkscape. As for specifically adding LaTeX support that
is a whole other question.

We now have Latex formula extension which does just that.
