Bug Description
[MIR] python-certifi
[Availability]
Currently in universe.
[Rationale]
python-certifi is a dependency of python-requests. python-requests is used by a number of packages, many of which are OpenStack packages. It was split out from the requests project.
[Security]
No security history.
[Quality Assurance]
Package works out of the box with no prompting. There are no major bugs in Ubuntu and there are no major bugs in Debian.
[Dependencies]
All are in main.
[Standards Compliance]
FHS and Debian Policy compliant.
[Maintenance]
Simple python package that the OpenStack Team will take care of.
[Background]
Certifi is a carefully curated collection of Root Certificates for validating the trustworthiness of SSL certificates while verifying the identity of TLS hosts. It has been extracted from the Requests project.
It can be used for SNI Verification with an HTTP client of your choice that supports SNI Verification, like Requests or Curl by passing the path to the CA Bundle to the HTTP Client.

There's practically nothing here. It even forwards on to the /etc/ssl/ certs/ca- certificates. crt file.
Security team ACK for promoting python-certifi to main.
Thanks
