Bug Description

this would be handy for these types of characters.

or for ads it would be usefull as people need to insert
TM
Registered mark
round bullet (for making quick lists in ads)

and some others quite often

perhaps in the future, it would be ultimately to beable
to assign a shortcut key to some character map characters
(for example - in adobe illustrator on the mac you hit
option+8 to insert a bullet)

What advantages are to be achieved by integration, as
opposed to just running it separately?

If drag and drop would be possible, it would be a huge
improvement to the comfort of working (specially for so called
clipart fonts). Just open the charmap of a font and drag the
selected character to the deskboard. Actually Corel Draw has
a similar function called "Insert Character". (see screenshot at
http://www.lumenstudio.net/inkscape/1.jpg)

bulia, in response to your question and repeating a bit of
molumen's comments,

this may not be that important, but just gathering feed back
from co-workers, it would be handy to do drag'n drop from
the charmap, or even the ability to create keyboard
shortcuts (user defined) to a few of the frequently used
items such as bullets and tm's. I realize that not everyone
creates ads with inkscape. but for those that do, this
would be a usefull thing.

sort of a twist on this idea, is like in scribus, how they
have tools > scrapbook, where you can drag stuff in there to
use when you want, and they stay in there even when you
close out the session, so you could keep some bullets or
images in there for reuse. anyways, just wanted to tag that
idea on here.

I would say if there is drag and drop capability or
shortcuts for commonly use ones, then there is no advantage
to further integration.
