Bug Description

Using 4.11.0-10.15 kernel from playback fails using this mpd.conf

##Pulseaudio
#audio_output {
# type "pulse"
# name "Local MPD"
# server "127.0.0.1"
#}

##Alsa
audio_output {
        type "alsa"
 name "Cambridge Audio DAC100 USB 2 - USB Audio"
 device "hw:1,0"
 auto_resample "no"
 auto_format "no"
 auto_channels "no"
 replay_gain_handler "none"
 mixer_type "none"
}

If I reboot into 4.10.0-26 then playback with alsa works.

appears to be intermittent - experimented with kernel from artful proposed reverting to using alsa, that worked. rebooted to 4.11.0-10.15 and it works again.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

@jsalisbury - I will try - but it appears to be rather intermittent - so not actually convinced of where the issue is.

@jsalisbury - mea culpa ... I'd set grub to

GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT=true

and have been booting with kernel which works ...
