it shouldn't remove nodes that are not selected.

Indeed that would be a really important feature. E.g. my usual usecase is:

* Draw something on paper
* Scan
* Import in Inkscape
* Edit

After importing, my drawing is in one whole big path, even if it contains several different objects (a person, a tree, a chair, etc). Let's say that I just want to simplify the path of the tree, to make it smoother. If I select the nodes in the tree and then Simplify, the whole drawing gets simplified, and with a huge threshold.

In the case Salvatore exposed, yes that would help. But when the nodes you want to simplify are in the same figure you can't simplify a part without simplifying everything. +1 for this feature.

BTW, the simplify feature IS very good. The lack of node selection is not a bug. Further development is desired, but the feature is in no way broken.

Please learn to read (and understand) the bug status and importance: it is a feature request, not a bug (Importance: Wishlist), and the status 'Triaged' means the that the feature request is confirmed and accepted.

I see, I thought it meant "left to die in the hospital emergency room." :D I got to blueprints from the wiki, which suggested that feature requests were no longer being discussed there, but in the blueprints section of launchpad. Anyway, thank you for working so hard on this high quality vector editor. If anybody gets around to my wishlist item, I will consider myself fortunate, because I know that there are lots of feature requests and just a few developers. Maybe in my next life I'll become a developer and do it myself. :)
