Bug Description

My mounted drive icons will sometimes be on my desktop when I boot and then the
will disappear after 10+ minutes. Other times, they will not even be then when I
boot.

When they go missing, they are not only missing from the desktop but also from
the tree in Nautilus.

This sounds like one of the imfamous gamin bugs...

Which of the following commands make your icons reappear?

killall gam_server
killall nautilus gnome-vfs-daemon
killall nautilus gnome-vfs-daemon gam_server

Hi,

I haven't tried any of these but this one makes them come back without fail

sudo /etc/init.d/dbus-1 restart

I got it from the forums.

This sounds like one of the gamin issues we fixed in Breezy (#7078). In the
absence of an answer to comment #3, I close this bug for now, since without more
information I cannot do anything about it.

Also, Breezy saw a lot of hotplug stabilization, so chances are that it even
works now. Can you please try the latest Breezy version? (The live CD should be
fine for testing and won't touch your hard drive).

If it still does not work, please answer with the debugging output I asked for,
then I can reopen this bug.
