Reset to Default in Preferences > Interface gives spurious updates , makes skins unusable and requires restart

HiDPI scaling gone wrong?

Starting a fresh install takes forever, loads incomplete skin and a ``-100% (experimental)`` entry in Preferences > Interface > HiDPI scaling

Have not seen this in a while. marking FIX COMMITTED instead of INVALID, so it does not vanish from the default search.
