Bug Description

Hi, i am using Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit. It's not the latest Mint, but to my knowledge as an LTS still supported. I want to install the Opera browser, but Synaptic only offers version 12.16.1860-1linuxmint.

Operas home pages says the current Linux version is 46.0.2597.26...

Opera 12 is from the year 2011 and still has the old Presto eninge instead of Webkit inside. It's so old, _it might even be a security risk_... Since thenm there wer 33 major releases (number 13 was skipped, 14 was the first to use Webkit). After Webkit, Opera moved on to Blink (versiopn 15 and on).

Obviously not. 12.16.1860-1linuxmint was what Synaptic offered to me, and I did not install any additional repository.

Due to the version number, I would assume 12.16.1860-1linuxmint is packaged directly in Linux Mint. You can double-check this with `apt policy opera` which will list available versions and which repo they come from. I'm not familiar enough with Mint to know how to best contact package maintainers though :/
