Yes, I agree with the original proposal of a time speed gui visualisation.
Seems it was present at the beginning of stellarium development (time & date window, F5).
And it has now disappeared with following control windows modification.

Possible to have it in the time & date window ? Or, best, in the status bar when speed is different from x1 ? (ie : -1, 0.5, 1000x...)

Thank you very much for this wonderfull soft I love and use, presently, for 2017 sun eclipse.
