Bug Description

im using windows 10 on a 2in1 laptop. i just downloaded inkscape and the icons are super tiny, and other sub menus are unusable. i tried to search a little and couldnt come up with much. i changed the preferences to "larger" icons and toolbars and it didnt help much. i have included a screenshot to show the text menu

Did you try restarting? I'm not clear if the "(requires restart)" on the item above applies to all those, or just that one.

I seem to recall needing a restart, in the past. I could be wrong, but simple, and worth a try :-)

Probably a 4k display. The high display resolution is greater than the current themes (gtk2) can accommodate.

This issue may be addressed at the Paris hackfest at the end of the month, when gtk3 is considered.

Until an update is released, the best option is "larger". (Unless someone here has a workaround.)

Yes i tried restarting. That got them to kick into "larger" which makes the icons slightly bigger but didnt fix the mside menu issue.

And yes its a 4k display. Pretty unfortunate i wont be able to use it i guess lol.

The Inkscape 32-bit version do not have this issue with hi-resolution displays.

The 64-bit version and the Windows Store version do have this issue.

In Windows 10 1703 (creators edition) there is a new properties setting for the exe file on the compatibility tab that let you override the high dpi setting in the built in application manifest. Set this setting to Scaling performed by System. This works for the 64-bit desktop version, not the Windows Store version.

For the 64-bit version I would also recommend replacing the gtkrc file found in \inkscape\share\themes\MS-Windows\gtk-2.0 folder with the one from the 32-bit version.
