Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Issues started after upgrading to 16.04. The previous kernel that was in use was 3.13.0-86, which had no operating issues.
I have installed 4.12.0-0412004rc4-generic which is now in use. I cannot access the internet with cable, but can with wireless. The keyboard and mouse have not locked up as they did with 4.4.0-78, altho they do not operate smoothly. In terminal (and wireless), sudo apt-get update yields "Temporary failure resolving...". Pinging ubuntu.com and 8.8.8.8 results in "unknown host" and destination host unreachable", respectively.
