Bug Description
MOS 8.0 and its maintenance updates are using an older version of librbd1 and python-rbd
These older packages cause nova-compute to segfault in certain situations. This issue has been observed in the RedHat ecosystem, but we have a customer reporting what appears to be the same issue in MOS 8.0
https:/
https:/
The MOS versions of these packages:
librbd1 0.94.5-
python-rbd 0.94.5-
This issue was addressed in version:
librbd1-0.94.5-15

The MOS Ceph team is strongly against patching Ceph in MOS 8.0 with these patches, which presumably fix the issue:

Because there is no testing framework for this. mirror. fuel-infra. org/decapod/ ceph/hammer- trusty hammer-trusty main /github. com/asheplyakov /mos9-ceph- upgrade/
They insist on updating Ceph as a whole, the original message from ~asheplyakov:

tl;dr version: please use packages from
deb http://
*and* upgrade playbooks from https:/
*BIG RED WARNING*: a plain "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" might easily break the cluster, please use the upgrade playbooks, and do check things with a test cluster first

I'm closing this as Won't Fix for the mentioned reason. Please contact MOS Ceph guys for details on how to upgrade Ceph.
