This looks like a dpkg failure more than a libreoffice-common package issue.

anne, were you able to complete the upgrade to 17.04 eventually? Do you now have a working libreoffice package? If so, which version?

Olivier, no, I'm having problems with the current kernel, can't connect to internet, but I'm using a previous one. I thought I had resolved the problems, but did and update yesterday and they are back again.

I'm having this problem with libreoffice-common 1:4.2.8-0ubuntu5.2 on one machine and perl-base 5.18.2-2ubuntu1.3 on another. Both 14.04.05 LTS.

Hey, I had this same problem and I was able to get around it by disabling sophos-av.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/916639/how-to-install-and-upgrade-other-software-in-spite-of-libreoffice-unmet-dependen/923596

 sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable
 sudo apt-get install -f
 sudo apt-get upgrade
 sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable
