Web Client: CTRL +T opens a new tab without EG launched

CTRL + T on XUL client opens a new tab with the splash page.

CTRL +T on the web client opens a new tab, but without EG launched. It will be really helpful to launch EG splash page in the new tab.

I had the same concern too when I first started testing the web client, but I think this is actually a browser issue and not an Evergreen issue. I added a paragraph to the web client docs to talk about this a bit - http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.12/_tab_browser_based_tab_buttons_and_keyboard_shortcuts.html.

The problem is modern browser don't open new tabs in home pages anymore, but both Firefox and Chrome do have add-ons that force this behavior.

I found it's very inconvenient not being able to open EG in a new tab easily.

I found there is Open in New Window button on some admin screens. Feasible to add something similar on the menu bar?

If you already have a client tab open, you can control-click (or middle mouse click) the home icon (top-left) to open the home page in a new tab. You can do the same with other links in the browser client as well, e.g. you can control-click any of the entries in the main menu to open that entry in a new tab.

Thanks, Bill. It works on both the home and logout icons. But I still think it will be good have a link to open a new tab, e.g. on top of Change Operator.

BTW, the newly opened tab via ctrl+click is not the active tab on Chrome, but is on FireFox.

(Noting that you can also right-click on nearly any link to open that link in a new tab.)
