it says there was a problem when selecting fglrx from addtional drivers. that is all i can say now

Having problems with no choice of video resolution in open source drivers. Needed open source to run DraftSight.

Then had problems with being able to run Abiword, which had another X11 graphics-related issue. Then Abiword had problems with OpenOffice and everything started to go down hill fast.

Evidently, the X windows environment is not very stable.
