Bug Description

Ubuntu 16.04
4.4.0-77-generic #98-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 26 08:34:02 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Nvida proprietary drivers

-What happens-

Since an upgrade to 4.4.0-77-generic kernel, the following things are very slow to register (more than 10 seconds):

- Hot keys e.g. CTRL+ALT+T (terminal) - takes a long time for the terminal window to appear
- Thunderbird e-mail password prompt - Takes a long time to popup
- Encrypted drive password prompts and mounting

-What expected (used to happen) -
All dialogues pop up or register within a few seconds

-Notes-
Could be related to Nvidia drivers, which I had to uninstall and reinstall after the kernel upgrade.
