Bug Description

The GCC packages don't create a symlink named gcc or g++ to define the version
to be used system-wide. Therefore, all work which need automatic compilation
fails, including ./configure and make.

These symlinks are contained in the 'gcc' and 'g++' packages.

I'm missing these sim-links as well, did a fresh install of Ubuntu 5.04 last
week or so, installed the g++ package with the Synaptics packet manager, and no
g++ symlink either, just a g++-3.3 binary.

Oh never mind! Just noticed that there _are_ packages called gcc and g++, and I
"just" have gcc-3.3 and g++-3.3 installed. I guess these "dependency packages"
(gcc and g++) install the proper symlinks.

I guess I'm not the only one who fell into this "pitfall" :0

Thanks, Oliver
