Bug Description
The "Tips and Tricks" tutorial page[1] states that Gaussian blur is not
available, which is no longer true as of 0.45. This is a killer feature,
and it would be great if this page were updated to reflect it.
Look under the heading "Bitmap drop shadows" for the text "While Inkscape
does not yet support the Gaussian blur SVG filter..."
Here's some possible replacement text:
<h2>Drop shadows</h2>
Inkscape supports Gaussian blurs of objects. One quick way to create a drop
shadow is to duplicate the object (<kbd>Ctrl+
black, offset it slightly down and to the left or right
(<kbd>&
Down</kbd>), open the <span class="
dialog (<kbd>Ctrl+
10% or so.

Thanks! It looks like someone has already put some new text in; the
website just hasn't been updated. Fwiw, here's the new text:
Inkscape supports the Gaussian blur SVG filter, so you can easily create Ctrl+D< /keycap> , press PgDown< /keycap> to put it beneath original object, place it a
blurred drop
shadows for objects. Select an object, duplicate it by
<keycap>
<keycap>
little to the right
and lower than original object. Now open Fill And Stroke dialog and change
Blur value to,
say, 5.0. That's it!
