I just boot the system using grub, once i logged in, the system prompted me with this error messages.

I was upgrading from 16.10 to 17.04 and got this error.

I did a boot repair and all is now well. I believe the problem was that the efi partition was not mounted. I don't know why - I've not changed anything since 16.10.

On a laptop running xubuntu I upgraded from 16.10 to 17.04 with no problem, and the /boot/efi wasn't mounted, so it's a bit of a puzzle.
