Bug Description

I tried to upgrade to 17.04 and it started out okay, but then said

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

I don't think any of that applies, so I ran the command in a terminal.

It looks like you have a version of rabbitmq-server which is not provided by the official Ubuntu archive.

rabbitmq-server 3.6.5-1 0

Please try removing that package and then upgrading again. Additional information about the upgrade process can be found in /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log if you want to do some detective work.

Yup, that was it! I removed rabbitmq-server and then the upgrade worked fine.

$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=17.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=zesty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 17.04"

Sorry about that. I guess I was thrown off by the earlier dialogue that asked me about disabling third-party repos.

Thanks so much!

Well, I'm having the same problem, but I don't have rabbitmq-server installed.

Any other suggestion/solution besides rabbitmq-server?

Thanks.

Please report a new bug using the command ubuntu-bug
ubuntu-release-upgrader so that your log files will be attached to the
bug. An upgrade from one release to another can failure for many
different reasons and without your log files there is no way to tell
why.
