I'm having the same in 18.04. Might be unrelated but the apport window popped up, after my PC froze which apparently resulted in some disturbance with font rendering. In certain applications (Caja, QuodLibet but not Firefox, for example) some characters are rendered incorrectly. The letter looks a bit like MISSINGNO. ^_^
