problems with ubuntu-cdrecord version with several cd writers

I had problems burning cds with my CyberDrive Cw058D. For my problem there is
already a bug filed in the debian bug-database:

I needed to install version 2.0+a30pre1-1 from http://snapshot.debian.org in
order to get my cd writer working.

Shall the current ubuntu-cdrecord version cdrecord-2.0+a38-1ubuntu4 be replaced
with 2.0+a30pre1-1 (debian unstable)?

Probably not replacing the whole package but there could certainly be an Ubuntu patch made which could possibly be passed upstream.
