Bug Description

Inkscape 0.92.1:

Steps to reproduce:

- type a normal text
- use text and font dialog to change the font size or font style
- Apply button stays greyed out

If you change the font itself or the alignment, the Apply button becomes available.
If the text is deselected, and reselected, things work as expected for any changes.

It would be good if all kinds of changes could be applied to a freshly created text.

Confirmed on Xubuntu 16.04, Inkscape 0.91, lp:inkscape/0.92.x rev. 15420 and lp:inkscape rev. 15658.

Seems to occur when the Text & Fonts dialog is open before you start typing the first text element of the session. If you first enter some text and then open the dialog, everything seems ok.

Changed in inkscape:
milestone: none → 0.93
status: New → Triaged

Any news? With the font options being sticky on the side panel, now this bug hits me every single time I try to tweak a font, because I no longer "open the font dialog". It's not even a dialog now.
I'd like to suggest a higher priority, because it's extremely frustrating.

As a simple workaround, what about never disabling the "Apply" button until a better fix can be implemented?

You're looking at the wrong bug tracker, Ruben (this one is being moved to https://inkscape.org/report) - and I cannot follow the observations you are describing.

Please test with Inkscape 1.0.1 and / or the current development version.

If the problem persists, check whether this report exists already, and if not, create a new one, please.

Thanks! I downloaded 1.0.1 and you are right, it's fixed in that version already.

Regarding which bug tracker to use, I'll tell you what I did and then you can decide how to best organize the various pages to direct people to the right one:
1. First I searched on github. Found inkscape there, but a tiny bugtracker with just a handful of bugs. I thought that wasn't the right place.
2. Then I searched the official page on Google, and went to inkscape.org. Through the menu Contribute > Report Bugs, I got to a website linking here, with the anchor text "Launchpad Bug Tracker for Inkscape". That was in the spanish version of inkscape.org.

Thanks again for the super fast support!

Thanks, I'll take the Spanish translation offline until some Spanish translator comes along to fix it.

Done. Unfortunately, the website auto-redirection to show English as a fallback if a translation does not exist does not kick in, so the link yields a 'page not found' error.

Well,... The website has been broken for a long time, and the person in charge doesn't care. So why bother...
