Bug Description

Hi!

I just installed "Inkscape 0.43+devel, built Jan 18
2006" for windows.

Some text-elements in my svg files use the font
"babycakes". Now these text-elements have standard
fonts like arial. Also in the font-dialog the font
babycakes isn't listed. I used the final 0.43 version
of inkscape before. Everything worked fine there.

After a while I figered out, that all fonts, that I
just copied to the c:/windows/fonts directory were
missing in inkscape. So I installed the babycakes font
again using the windows font installing routine. Now
the text-elements have the right font.

Yup, same thing happened to me. I thought I had lost my mind. I had a Inkscape file using Monterey font that I had downloaded/installed from myfonts and it became a Font Family within Inkscape. But the next time I opened the Inkscape file, the font had changed to some other Handscript font.

As per the instructions above, I opened Control Panel-> Fonts -> File -> Install New Font... browsed to the source font file and over-installed the desired font (in my case Monterey). Then rI e-opened the Inkscape file and the proper font was displayed.

I had the same problem with missing fonts in 2018 on windows 10. I tried copying the fonts to the windows fonts folder, and installing by right clicking on the font and selecting install - neither option worked, the fonts were still missing.

What finally solved the problem was right clicking on the fonts and selecting "Install for all users" with administration icon in front of the option. Hope this helps someone.
