Bug Description
Hi!
I just installed "Inkscape 0.43+devel, built Jan 18
2006" for windows.
Some text-elements in my svg files use the font
"babycakes". Now these text-elements have standard
fonts like arial. Also in the font-dialog the font
babycakes isn't listed. I used the final 0.43 version
of inkscape before. Everything worked fine there.
After a while I figered out, that all fonts, that I
just copied to the c:/windows/fonts directory were
missing in inkscape. So I installed the babycakes font
again using the windows font installing routine. Now
the text-elements have the right font.

Yup, same thing happened to me. I thought I had lost my mind. I had a Inkscape file using Monterey font that I had downloaded/ installed from myfonts and it became a Font Family within Inkscape. But the next time I opened the Inkscape file, the font had changed to some other Handscript font.
As per the instructions above, I opened Control Panel-> Fonts -> File -> Install New Font... browsed to the source font file and over-installed the desired font (in my case Monterey). Then rI e-opened the Inkscape file and the proper font was displayed.
