Bug Description

1. Version information:
  - Linux Mint 18.1 'Serena'
  - Cinnamon 64-bit

2. In the Main Menu Editor:
  a. In a source menu-folder, click an application item and click the Copy button.
  b. Click a target menu-folder and click the Paste button.

3. The above procedure results in the following:
  a. A duplicate application icon is created in the source menu-folder; this happens always.
  b. The target application icon and one of the source application icons become linked, so that modifying or deleting one of these icons automatically modifies or deletes the other icon; this happens always.
  c. Cinnamon crashes; this happens about 80% of the time when working with "deep" application icons (system-related or administration-related) but it happens rarely when working with standard and user-friendly application icons (graphics applications, LibreOffice, nontechnical applications).

4. What I expect to happen when I copy and paste an application icon:
  a. I do not expect that a duplicate application icon will appear in the source menu-folder.
  b. I expect that once I complete the copy-and-paste action, I can then delete one of the icons, and the other one will remain.
  c. I do not expect a crash of Cinnamon when I am performing a copy-and-paste action in the Main Menu Editor.

5. As I mentioned:
  a. #3a happens always.
  b. #3b happens always.
  c. #3c happens with variable frequency, depending on the extent to which the respective application is highly technical versus nontechnical (see the comment in #3c above).

Please note: It does not appear possible for me to open a bug report at GitHub. I am not a technical person, and GitHub appears to expect me to launch a project or a repository; this objective does not match my goal or my level of understanding.
