Bug Description
pantheon-files: 0.3.2
elementaryOS: 0.4
In column view, the following yields unexpected, possibly incorrect, behavior:
1. Browse to Home > Documents > Folder A.
2. Click on the empty space available in Documents column to bring focus to Documents.
3. Hit Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new folder.
Expected: A new folder would be created in Home > Documents.
Actual: A new folder is created in Home > Documents > Folder A.
Step number 2, to change focus to Document folder, is therefore ignored altogether by Files. The currently open folder or the folder where the last operation was performed is deemed to be the active directory. Primary mouse click does not change it.

"The currently open folder or the folder where the last operation was performed is deemed to be the active directory."
Even this does not seem to be the case.
Consider:
1. Browse to Home > Documents > Folder A.
2. Multiselect items in Home directory.
3. Press Ctrl+A to select all items.
Expected: All items in Home directory would be selected/ deselected. deselected.
Actual: All items in Folder A directory get selected/
