Board game plugin can't contact BGG

Bug Description
I recently re-installed GCStar on my newer computer. I had a small board game data base that I carried over from my old PC. I tried to add more games to the data base. However, the board game applet cannot seem to obtain game information from boardgamegeek.com. When I click "Fetch Information", it just clocks.
I am using version 1.6.1 under Windows 10. I attempted to install version 1.7.1 over 1.6.1, but could not figure out how to make Windows executables out of the files; so I gave up.
I suspect it is because BGG changed the way it is accessed for information; but I wanted to check in case I was doing something wrong. Thanks.
