Nautilus type-ahead doesn't search on first key

Bug Description
In both dev and stable nautilus (2.23 & 2.22), when trying to use type-ahead (not CTRL+F), one needs to type the first letter twice to search for a folder. In other words, one has to activate the type-ahead by typing any letter, then that's the only time it starts searching. Could it not be made to search directly when typing in the nautilus window?
Thank you.

This was "fixed" in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for zesty yesterday by dropping the type-ahead patch. See bug 1666681 for more information about the problems with that patch.
You may to log out and log back in to see the change since you already have the new version installed ( nautilus 1:3.23. 90-0ubuntu0~ zesty2 )
