Account settings change after mail restart

In an attempt to fix this bug myself I downloaded the source code (r2194 from the bazaar repo) and came to realise that (though I can consistently reproduce this bug with the mail binary provided via the elementary repos) I cannot reproduce this bug when compiling from source.

Steps to reproduce
------------------

1. Setup an email account in mail, using service: other
2. Use an smtp hostname without a subdomain (e.g. 'example.com' instead of 'smtp.example.com').
3. Add the account successfully.
4. Edit the account and the "Download mail" setting to "Everything"
5. Quit mail using Ctrl+Q (simply closing the window won't do)
6. Open mail.
7. Check your account settings: The smtp hostname is now 'smtp.example.com' and your "Download mail" setting is "2 weeks back".

This bug is quite frustrating in combination with https://bugs.launchpad.net/pantheon-mail/+bug/1568896, since it requires removing the account entirely and then re-adding it to correct the smtp server setting.
