Bug Description

In Inkscape 0.92, when writing Arabic (Complex Text Layout) texts (Arabic writes RTL), and writing some numbers or some Latin text, the orientation of the whole text become wrong.

I attached my test case, two screen shots, one from the version 0.91.22 (works well) and the other from the 0.92 version (buggy)

Thank you in advance, and I hope you made this as urgent, because this bug will block any CTL language user.

Thanks for taking the time to file a report!

Looks like Bug #1653234 "Text base direction is incorrect for RTL text"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1653234
Except that Bug #1653234 can also be reproduced with 0.91 (official release).

I see your have a 0.91.22 version. Could you please give details on your operating system and the package you used to install the application?

Thank you for your reply Mr. @jazzynico

I'm using Inkscape version "0.92.0 r", I installed it from the official Arch Linux repository, the package version in the Arch is 0.92.0-3, it is the lastest one.

Thanks for reporting back!

I'm a bit surprised that it worked with 0.91 on your computer. But my tests were based on a 0.91 version for Windows 32-bit with old poppler libraries. I'm going to test on Xubuntu 16.04 soon to confirm.

Just for the record, Arch Linux 0.91-22 is the last 0.91 version. As Arch didn't backport patches from the 0.91.x branch or from the trunk (Arch versions of the package are mainly recompilations due to dependencies updates and packaging changes), 0.91-22 can be considered equivalent (patch-wise) to the official version.

Thank you for your responsiveness Mr jazzynico!

Yes I know, the last version in 0.91 branch version was 0.91-22 in Arch Linux, but now, Arch Linux repository contains the 0.92.0-3 version https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/inkscape.

The version 0.91.x worked well with RTL, the problem become when I upgraded my Inkscape to 0.92.0-3.

In the two previous screen shots, the text in 0.91 version is correct, but the same text in 0.92 is not in the right direction.

An interesting addition is that it seems that the bug is not active in the 'preview' window of "Text and Font (Shift+Ctrl+T)"

Is there any update to this?

This bug is very annoying, I have to chop the text into many text boxes as a workaround!

And to be clear: this bug isn't present in 0.91 that's included in Linux Mint 18.3 (or Ubuntu 16.04). 0.91 had some quirkiness when working with RTL. 0.92 is totally broken...
