Fill and Stroke changes not only the changed property

Bug #165666 reported by Testerus

Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
1. draw a blue and a red object
2. select both objects
3. change the transparency

Result: both objects get the same colour

Expected Result: only the property that I changed
(here:: transparency) gets updated

Note: the same happens with grouped objects, but I am
not sure what the correct behaviour should be here
e.g. if some object are transparent already, it might
be better to add/remove some transparency instead of
overwriting it with a the new value

Hi,

Thanks for the report.

I see what you mean about the transparency. What do you
think should happen if you drag, say, the red slider in the same
situation? Should it set the red, green and blue of both
objects or just the red?

Cheers

Carl

IMHO the colour change should be minimal invasive (e.g. red
only). Additionally there could be a Enter/Return icon (like
the Konqueror "Go" button) next to the RGBA field. The whole
colour could then be changed if the enter key is pressed or
the enter icon is clicked.

Also the colour shouldn't be overwritten, when one changes
from RGB to HSV,CMYK or Wheel.

I agree with testerus that changes should be kept to a
minimum. With several different objects selected, the color
displayed by the dialog is not an actual color anyway, but
is an average, so it makes little sense to assign it to all
object. On the other hand, assigning only the changed
slider's value would allow for very useful effects, e.g.
reducing the saturation of all selected objects without
changing their hue, by dragging the S slider on HSV tab.

Now you can use Master opacity which is orthogonal to color
and does not reset it when many objects selected. As for
adjusting H/S/V separately, this will be done in the color
ajust dialog, soon to hit the shelves.
