Ordering of symbol sets garbled

If you've got a lot of symbol sets, having them ordered (in the symbol sets dropdown) by alphabet would be helpful.

I was able to find the 'cause' of the current behaviour (symbol sets are ordered in seemingly arbitrary order) in the file src/ui/dialog/symbols.cpp, line 603 (g_dir_read_name).

Not fully reproduced with Inkscape 0.91, 0.92.0 and lp:inkscape/0.92.x r15309 on OS X 10.7.5 (see attached screenshot).

Possibly in parts like bug #681625 a platform-specific issue?

Just noticed (usually I don't have those symbol sets installed): I would recommend that all contributors to the inkscape-open-symbols repo run Inkscape from the terminal to check for any warning messages on the console about the content of the symbol set files - sort of a cheap validator ;-)

Actually, due to bug #1653184, I better not recommend this for users of Inkscape 0.92 r15299 (the latest stable release) - there are way too many (other, known) warnings at the moment due to that regression (they are gone with latest lp:inkscape 0.92.x luckily (and will be fixed in 0.92.1)).

Reproduced on Xubuntu 16.04 and Windows XP (32-bit) with Inkscape 0.91 and 0.92, with the default symbols. Not only the symbols are not ordered correctly, but they are (un)ordered differently in Windows and Xubuntu.
