Bug Description

Hello. ArpON has been updated to version 3.0-ng (next generation) and is - as author noted - rewritten from scratch. Please update, because all supported Ubuntu release contains an old 2.7 version, which is now deprecated and the most important: it's been a year since the update.

ArpON is important utility - from a security point of view. It makes "the ARP standardized protocol secure in order to avoid the Man In The Middle (MITM) attack through the ARP spoofing, ARP cache poisoning or ARP poison routing attack".

Best regards.

Thanks for reporting.

There seems to have been a period where the package was not maintained in Debian, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=866832 for details. However, that seems to have been sorted and arpon 3.0-ng+dfsg1-1 is available in Ubuntu bionic, so it will be part of 18.04.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please follow the instructions for "Requesting a Backport" at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports#Requesting_a_Backport.
