When typing in numbers, numbers are unreadable

If you open calculator and type two numbers or more (not one) you can not read the numbers. All you will see is one big blob. I am running Ubuntu 17.04 with latest updates. One update seemed to cause this. Also this bug comes up sometimes in gedit and affects the whole distro. I can not mark this as affects all distros because launchpad gives an error

Do you have any problems running gnome-font-viewer from a terminal?

It might not be related but I also had a font problem when I upgraded to 17.04 Alpha in December. See bug 1651922
