mouse clicks fail after monitor powered off and back on

Bug Description

This occurs 100% of the time.

1. mobo is ASUS A8N-SLI premium
2. Running 64-bit gutsy
3. Ordinary PS2 mouse

I have the system set to power down my monitor after 45 minutes of inactivity.

Once the monitor powers down due to inactivity, when I then return and move the mouse, the monitor wakes up properly, but from that point on, all mouse clicks are ignored. The mouse cursor moves correctly, and the keyboard responds correctly; it's just the clicks that are lost.

I have been unable to find any recovery mechanism except to power down the entire system and reboot.

This problem did not occur in dapper (I just replaced dapper with gutsy in the past few days).

This seems to be a result of using the proprietary nvidia driver, so I guess there's nothing we can do about it.

I switched to the nv driver yesterday, and (so far) this problem has not recurred.
