Ubuntu-software center can't open more than 2 seconds

When I click on the launcher icon for Ubuntu software window appears; but for below 2 seconds.

The issue seems that the system has hit its limit of open files, the log has those warnings
'Error opening file: Too many open files'

which is not really a gnome-software bug...

Even when other files are not open this happens.

It seems that the updates repository wasn't updated so the latest version of gnome-software wasn't being used.

Marking bug report as "Invalid".
