Can't switch to any TTY

Bug Description
I can't switch to TTY1 nor any other by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 (...F6) - I only get to a black screen, but no terminal prompt appears. I can get back to X with CTRL+ALT+F7 afterwards.
Machine:
Elementary Loki 64bit with default kernel (uname -a: Linux cloudbook 4.4.0-53-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP Fri Dec 2 15:59:10 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
Acer Cloudbook 11 (AO1-132) with Intel chipset. Both Efi & Secureboot enabled.
Any ideas what can be causing this?
