Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On a Fujitsu Lifebook E4010, a freshly installed Gutsy selects 30 Hz:

~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1400 x 1050, maximum 1400 x 1400
VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right)
LVDS connected 1400x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 0mm x 0mm
   1400x1050 29.7*+ 85.3 74.8 70.0 60.0
   [...]
TMDS disconnected (normal left inverted right)

I try to switch to 60 Hz, but nothing happens:

$ xrandr --output LVDS --rate 60

Switching with the Screen Resolution preferences does not do anything, either.

The result is that part of the display flickers, on certain colors (the standard desktop background, for example).

Thanks for reporting this issue. It seems really bizarre that it's selecting 30 Hz and 320x200. It suggests your hardware is not getting detected properly.

Please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf, /var/log/Xorg.0.log, and the output of lspci -vvnn. It would also be helpful if you could test this against a Hardy alpha livecd to see if the issue remains there.

Sorry for taking so long to report back. I don't have access to the notebook very often.

I've retested the problem on the latest intel package (2:2.1.1-0ubuntu9.1), there is no change.
