I can confirm I get a similar error message when attempting to open a .js file in eric on Ubuntu Zesty.

Answer about this bug by Eric developer:

Hello,

this is a known issue and is caused by the Ubuntu people in their distribution. They deleted jasy from the eric ThirParty packages. Please let them know to fix their eric package or make jasy a package dependency so it gets installed along with eric.

Regards,

Detlev
