Bug Description

Gladex is a Python application which takes a .glade file written in the Glade User Interface Builder and generates code in Perl, Python, or Ruby. The generated code uses libglade to draw a GUI and is not raw pygtk code. Support for additional languages can be added through the plugin API.

All Gladex development is hosted on Launchpad (https://launchpad.net/gladex). A source tarball of the latest stable realease Gladex-0.4.1 can be found at https://launchpad.net/gladex/0.4/0.4.1/+download/gladex-0.4.1.tar.gz. The project is under GPLv3.

There is a binary package available at https://launchpad.net/gladex/0.4/0.4.1/+download/gladex-0.4.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb. However it's created with epm rather than with the proper tools. The binary package is good enough to install and uninstall the program, but I don't think it conforms to any standards of what files go where.

Attached is the .list file used with epm to package Gladex-0.4.1. This may be a good starting point for someone making a proper source package. If someone puts together a source package I'd be willing to maintain it. I just haven't learned how to properly create source packages from scratch.

Hello,

I think this software is a great one, and, as recently I have learned packaging I think I can devote myself to this task. I'll contact you for further details.

Hello,

well, for the moment I am working on this bug Upstream. After the packaging strategy will be done, the bug should be easily fixable on Ubuntu. But as there is a kinda sync between upstream and Ubuntu (concerning this topic) I'll put this bug on progress status and attach the BZR branch I am working on (from Upstream)

This won't be available for 0.4 cause I have started the work using the trunk branch. So I am changing the target to milestone 0.5.

I haven't dedicated any time to Gladex in a while. Now that I've started a new job teaching high school physics I don't expect to work on Gladex any time in the near future. I would love to see Gladex in Debian or Ubuntu, but I cannot be the person to get that done. Sorry.

No objection from me. The the packaging method is not up to Debian or Ubuntu standards. It's really just hacked together.
