Bug Description

I've been using the universe packages for ubuntu for a while, and recently I decided that I wanted to try making some modifications to the source code. I downloaded the tarball, extracted it, and installed it, but now I'm having issues.

Though wicd seems to have installed fine, it now asks me to enter the root password every time I start my computer. This is, obviously, quite annoying for a daemon that's supposed to run in the background, and I've had no luck finding a solution thus far.

Worse still, running the uninstall script and then reinstalling the wicd package +dependencies from the universe does nothing to solve the problem. Even with the wicd package, which was working fine on my system before, I am now asked to enter the root password every time my computer boots up.

I've also purged+reinstalled wicd and its dependencies any number of times and installed+uninstalled network-manager.

Can anyone help me to solve this issue?

How to reproduce
--------------------------
1. Have the wicd package installed
2. Install wicd from source
3. Purge wicd and its dependencies
4. You should now be having the problem
