Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

The linux-virtual kernel images (linux-image-2.6.22-14-virtual) in gutsy do not include the mptscsih (and related) kernel modules to support the LSI host adapter presented by VMware ESX. Buslogic mode works, but the LSI adapter is the recommended configuration by VMware. Please include the LSI scsi driver in a future release of the virtual kernel package.

Hi David,

I'm opening a new task against the actively developed kernel (the Hardy Heron) as it appears this is still an issue. I just glanced at the current Hardy Heron kernel config files and it appears this is not being set for the linux-virtual kernel images either. I'm assigning to the kernel team so that this can be resolved in the upcoming release. Thanks!

Can this be backported to Gutsy?

Also, this seems like a duplicate of bug #163227 (which was marked as invalid for some bizarre reason).

Well the guy didn't want to fix it probably, I've marked my report as duplicate, since this seems more "to the point". if they add vmware support in ubuntu, it'll be added in ubuntu jeos probably

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : Kernel team bugs

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.
