Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Some laptop buttons working in GNOME don't work with Compiz Fusion activated.

To name one, the Lenovo Button on Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop (produces code 0x9f) — it can be used in GNOME (I, for example, set it to start terminal), but there's no way to bind anything in Compiz Fusion (including a command to run a terminal) to this button.

Hi Evgeny,

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I currently run latest Hardy Alpha on the laptop in question. The issue persists.

I have tested it in Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7400, additional buttons cannot be programmed on that laptop either (they can in pure GNOME, but not with Compiz).

Hi there
do you still experience this with the latest updates in Hardy?

Thanks in advance.

I'm happy to say that, at least for my model of laptop, the name of the key in question changed in Intrepid, and now (in Intrepid Beta) this bug is no longer relevant. In Hardy it still is, though, so I think this bug is to remain open until the fix is backported to the current LTS.
