Bug Description

I have reported this bug to the kstars team, here is their last response and a link to a patch that fixes the problem. The patch is downloadable from the bug reported at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152453

Can this patch get rolled out as part of a kubuntu/ubuntu update?

I have now built this patch for myself and tested it, it fixes the problem with the menu commands not getting to the telescope. My telescope is laptop driven once more! This patch then now really should get into a formal release.

Hi everybody,

Yes, I can confirm that this patch on indiproperty.cpp is working well and is really necessary for a new release. The sooner the better, because new users of Kstars and Indi on Ubuntu won't understand its power and richness -- this was my case. Some commands in kstars don't work easily without it, for instance, it is difficult to get to sync or slew the telescope to a position without the context menu working : you have to manually enter the coordinates into the dialog box in Device Configuration page...
This patch allows all the devices to be driven by the context menu : scope and camera. In the current release (4:3.5.8-0ubuntu1), this context menu is uneffective.

Best regards,
Pierre

Should be fixed in KDE 4.1 at least.
