Bug Description

I've made a Hoary installation "ex-novo" on my computer [PIII 450 - 512M Ram -
3dfx Voodoo3 3000 - SoundBlaster Live! Value].
The installation went on all right, but when I restarted the system a lot of
problems occurred:
1. It takes some time to pass the step "Loading modules"
2. It seems to freeze when the written "Starting enterprise volume management
system" comes up
3 When I log-in into gdm gnome seems to start. Then the written "Failed
inizialized HAL" comes up and stop.
I have to kill x.org from the console.

Eveything worked well whith Warthy.

I don't know, but I'll check it as soon as I'll come home
At any rate ... yesterday I found the problem (after many day of desperating
testing): my usb scanner hp scanjet (3970 or 3470 0r 3479? I don't remember now,
I'll check at home)
I removed the usb plug from the machine and I restarted it ... the computer
works now.
I hadn't had such a problem with Warthy ... the scanner didn't work, of course,
but it didn't make me any problem
