Too large steps at low brightness

Bug Description

My laptop has about 190 brightness levels, while there is a maximum of 15 steps in indicator.
Moreover, brightness seems to change in a logarithmic way, so that difference between 14 and 15 is negligible, while difference between 1 and 2 is big and difference between 0 and 1 is huge.
I understand that adding more levels to menu will make it too cluttered. Seekbar would be an ideal solution, but I am not sure if it is possible for indicator. (As it is stated here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/16431/putting-an-arbitrary-gtk-widget-into-an-appindicator-indicator )
As a quick and dirty patch I changed behaviour of mouse scroll to a semi-logarithmic way (See attachment). It works almost perfectly for me, but is completely out of sync with menu items.
