Bug Description

When moving the top left or right corner nodes of a mesh gradient the entire mesh path moves downwards. It just keeps on sliding down and out of the object bounding box the more you move the nodes.

On a radial gradient it happens with the two right-most nodes that meet in the same position, although more when moving the lower one. The direction of the path seems to be moving to the left most of the time, although it's not consistent.

The nodes then don't display on correct positions, they seem to be detached from the path, and sometimes the color of their segment is off (not updated correctly on canvas).

This screenshots shows the purple color of the triangle corner as it should display, but some nodes/path are still off.

This screenshot shows the path disappearing from the object box. Only the top left corner nodes seems to be holding it on close, this was the node moved.

This screenshot shows the conical gradient shifting out of the box, and the nodes not displaying in their true positions.

The node jumping also happens with Node tool on paths. Maybe it's not related to Meshes after all?

I also noticed weird behaviour on rectangles, dragging to create them with the mouse seems a bit off, they get drawn higher up than where I placed the mouse pointer, and when completing them they don't seem to end up with the height and width I'd expect.

Also when converting rectangles to paths their size changes! There is no stroke so the bounding box shouldn't differ from rectangle size. Possibly related to:
The sizes of a shape are not consistent in Controls Bar
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/311828

When snapping a rectangle to a Page corner, it snaps correctly while still holding it with mouse, but on release it jumps further down.

Is my system cursed or is this a regression?

Sorry for the alarm, it seems to be a preferences problem after all. When I renamed preferences.xml from ~/.config/inkscape and a new one got generated, it all seems ok!

I'm attaching the corrupt preferences if you're interested in digging into it.

All symptoms probably due to the user's choice to use largely reduced numeric precision for SVG output ('2' instead of default '8').

If that's the case this probably isn't a valid bug then. This doesn't exactly seem to be a common problem but if it becomes one, we can make a FAQ for it.
