Bug Description
Edimax EW-7318USg
I used the live CD to check that all my hardware was supported and it works great. The only hitch is that my network must broadcast the essid. I get a working wpa2psk connection every time I use the live CD.
But, every time I install ubuntu and boot into my shiny new system. It will not connect and I get nothing.
I've tried all kinds of HOWTOs etc to do with Ralink and SerialMonkey drivers and to be honest I don't understand what the commands are doing but if I follow them through I end up with a machine that won't boot at all.
This USB Adapter comes with linux drivers but they are complex as hell to install from source code etc.
I would like help to fix this bug properly so that future releases of Ubuntu will support my adapter. Also I know others are using this adapter.
I have experience as a Java Developer so I'm no idiot but I've not used linux for some years so back in the days of Mandrake 6 I new my way around.
If someone will help me then I will do all I can to get this working rather than chicken out and buy something else.
Thanks,
John
If I install Ubuntu with a wireless connection enabled from the live cd then when I reboot I can get this error from the kern.log enable_ radio: Error - Register initialization failed.
