Autologin doesn't work

Bug Description
Using LM18 MATE.
Auto-login fails fairly consistently.
I've enabled auto-login via:
Administration -> Login Window -> Auto Login and selected "Enable Automatic Login"
I've also disabled the password for the user under:
Administration -> Users and Groups -> User Settings and set Password to "Not asked on login".
Yet almost every time I reboot, the MDM login screen sits there waiting for me to click on my username.
Anybody know how to fix this?

I have this issue too on Cinnamon, using i3 on a MacbookPro 2015.
Would love help with this.
