A problem changing screen res - it ignores the requested change

Bug Description

This happens intermittently, and I am not sure what triggers the situation, except, maybe, a few screen res changes, one after the other, but Mythbuntu (7.10) gets in a state where clicking on a new screen resolution, causes it to pop up that dialog where it asks if you want to keep the new setup or not, WITHOUT actually changing the screen res.

The 'fix' is to log out and back into X and try again if it isn't at the res you wanted.

My relevant hardware is

ASUS M2N-X M/B
AMD Athlon 64 x2
Nvidia 7200 128MB PCIe
1 GB ram

This is under Mythbuntu, which does not use gnome, so there is no
System>Prefernces like normal Ubuntu. Under it's settings menu there
are 2 entries pertaining to res settings, which is confusing for a
start, but both seem to have trouble.
